Shane receives BC Civil Liberties Award for the Arts

On June 12th, 2013 Shane performed his piece, “Instructions for a Bad Day” at the BC Civil Liberties Awards. He received an award for recognition in the Arts.

David Suzuki delivered an inspirational speech about his history and the issues with our democracy.

Thank you all at BCCLA for a lovely evening and for recognizing good work by all those who are standing up for what is right.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the organization…

The BC Civil Liberties Association was established in 1962 and is the oldest and most active civil liberties group in Canada. They are funded by the Law Foundation of B.C. and by citizens who believe in them.

Their mandate is to preserve, defend, maintain and extend civil liberties and human rights in Canada. They achieve their mandate through our Advocacy in Action, Public Policy, Community Education, and Justice programs.
The BCCLA is an autonomous, non-partisan charitable society. Though they strive to work cooperatively with other groups on common causes, they are unaffiliated with any other organization or political group. Their independence has been one of the BCCLA’s enduring strengths for over 50 years.

It is a great cause, so, if you have the funds please donate.
